Sav’s Restaurant & Gourmet Ice Cream offers a multitude of authentic West African food items! As the only West African cuisine experience in Lexington, guests can enjoy anything from traditional stews with fufu to fried tilapia filets. Sav’s also offers a variety of vegan and vegetarian options and uses many local ingredients in its dishes. They are partnered with Toast, DoorDash, and GrubHub for pick-up and delivery. Peanut Goat Bowl: Sav’s famous Peanut Goat bowl is one of Sav’s specialties. This flavorful and gluten-free dish is a savory, slow-cooked peanut butter and fresh tomato purée stew with tender goat and mixed vegetables including carrots, corn, green beans, peas and onions. Guests can also choose between white rice, brown rice, or fufu (an African staple made from plantain flour) to accompany this dish. All of Sav’s bowls are garnished with fried plantains and a small salad.
Lamb Ragoût: Another Sav’s specialty and a crowd favorite, this savory lamb dish is cooked with potatoes and spices and enjoyed with a side of baguette. The Lamb Ragoût is also served with a kéké (cassava root vegetable) salad.

Sav also makes his own specialty sauces: a habanero Piment hot sauce and a tangy vinaigrette salad dressing. Bottles of Sav’s Piment and Sav’s Vinaigrette are available for purchase at the restaurant as well as online, so you can add some flavor to your kitchen! You can also find these sauces at Zim’s Cafe, Good Foods CO-OP, and Wilson’s grocery store in Lexington.

In addition to the two sauces, pints of Sav’s gourmet ice cream is available for purchase at the restaurant and Wilson’s. Scoops of ice cream are available at the Kentucky Artisan Center in Berea.
