Sav’s Highlighted in Lexington-Herald Leader for Local Businesses Persevering through COVID-19

This past November, Sav’s Restaurant & Gourmet Ice Cream was featured in the Lexington Herald-Leader newspaper (see below), highlighting the restaurant’s outdoor seating expansion in the hopes of surviving the COVID-19 pandemic. As with many other small businesses, Sav’s has struggled to stay afloat during the past few months, and business owners worry the winter will worsen the financial strain already being faced.


The perpetual condition of Kentucky has increased COVID-19 restrictions and the expectations placed on business owners. These state requirements are not heavily favored by the public, and the negative response is impacting businesses immeasurably.


On Wednesday, November 4th, Governor Andy Beshear extended the mask mandate for another 30 days. As of Wednesday, there have been 1,635 new cases in Kentucky, which brings the state total to 113,009 since March. Kentucky’s virus death toll stands at 1,514. Even with this data, many regulations implemented by business owners are not well-received by community members.


Sav’s Restaurant & Gourmet Ice Cream, located on East Main Street, has worked to accommodate the seriousness of the virus. The local restaurant is hoping to provide seating for patrons this winter to alleviate the stress of public outings. Sav’s Restaurant & Gourmet Ice Cream also hopes for copious amounts of takeout orders to support the restaurant through the pandemic.
