Sav’s Restaurant & Gourmet Ice Cream originated here in Lexington, but the owner and head chef, Mamadou “Sav” Savane, is from Guinea, on the West coast of Africa. He learned to cook from his mother and sisters, which grew into a passion. This passion led to the opening of Sav’s Grill & West African Cuisine on South Limestone Street in Lexington in 2008. He then opened his own ice cream business, Sav’s Chill, across the street from Sav’s Grill in 2012. Although Sav enjoyed having a location for each business on South Limestone, he wanted to combine them into one. In 2019, he was able to find the perfect spot at 630 East Main Street. Now, Sav's Restaurant & Gourmet Ice Cream can provide the local community with a delicious meal and some ice cream to top it off all in one place. From peanut chicken and fried plantains to lamb ragout and chocolate hazelnut ice cream, you will not want to miss what Sav’s has to offer!
While Sav’s is offering a limited menu and adjusted hours due to COVID-19 accommodations, there are still many options to choose from to satisfy any craving. The updated hours are Monday through Saturday, 4pm to 9pm. The same menu is also offered on Toast (pick-up), GrubHub (delivery), and DoorDash (delivery).
