Lexington, KY— Sav’s Restaurant & Gourmet Ice Cream has recently partnered with Delivery CO-OP, a nonprofit cooperative owned and operated by the local community of Lexington. Delivery CO-OP works to create greater profitability for local restaurants and better the overall customer experience.
Unlike other delivery services, Delivery CO-OP does not charge a service or delivery fee. Instead, there is a monthly membership fee. This makes it accessible to more individuals and works in favor of all stakeholders. Not only does this decrease the delivery expenses for customers, but the monthly fee covers ¼ of the delivery drivers’ salaries and insurance costs.
The COVID-19 pandemic has had a large impact on the community, especially the restaurant industry. Delivery CO-OP wanted to help restaurants survive amid a pandemic, which is how the cooperative came to be. With the help of this company, jobs are provided to people in the workforce, and restaurants can make a profit.
